Farrakhan Leads Audience in Anti-Semitic Tirade

Nation of Islam (NOI) leader Louis Farrakhan used his platform at the NOI’s Mosque Maryam in Chicago on Sunday to lead his audience in an anti-Semitic tirade.

Towards the end of his remarks, Farrakhan made a bizarre comparison between the study of ants and white people. “The Honorable Elijah Muhammad says to study [white people]. They’re successful. They make no excuses for their failures. They work hard in a collective manner like the ant….Their long coevolution with other species has led to mimetic, commensal, parasitic, and mutualistic relationships.”

He then brought Jews into the comparison:

Go back to the Secret Relationship[Between Black and Jews] …White people are wise and the wisest of white people are the members of the Jewish community…They are wise and they are the guards of their own world. Are you mad with me for saying that? [Audience: “No sir!”] You can’t go nowhere in their world without paying obeisance to them.

Farrakhan then engaged in a disturbing call-and-response with his audience:

Farrakhan: How many of you are lawyers? Only have one in the house? No wonder we go to jail so much, brother. But at the top of the law profession, who are the top in law?

Audience: Jews.

Farrakhan: Sorry I didn’t hear you.

Audience: Jews!

Farrakhan: Any doctors in the house? Ain’t got no doctors? Oh there’s one way in the back. At the top of the medical profession, the top in that are members of the Jewish community. Anybody in media? Who’s the top in that field?

Audience: Jews.

Farrakhan: Anybody a rapper in the house? There’s rappers. You can rap, ain’t nothing wrong with that, but at the top of that are those that control the industry. Any of you have Hollywood ambitions, Broadway ambitions… Who’s the top of that?

Audience: Jews.

Farrakhan: Same people! They’re masters in business. Well I’m not a businessman I’m a banker. Well who’s the master of the bankers?

Audience: Jews.

Farrakhan: TALK TO ME!

Audience: Jews!

Farrakhan: You don’t discredit them because they’re masters, you discredit them by the way they use their mastery.

Audience: [applause]

Farrakhan: Now, I close.

New Black Panther Post-Summit Radio Broadcast Features Renewed Calls For Violent Confrontation

A June 25 New Black Panther Party radio broadcast featured a number of NBPP leaders discussing their June 22-23, 2012, National Leadership Summit in Georgia titled “Call to Action: Against the War on Black People,” among other issues. The NBPP is the largest organized anti-Semitic and racist black militant group in America.

National NBPP Chairman Malik Zulu Shabazz emphasized that the main objective of the summit was to empower a cadre of young leadership to take the organization into the future. Shabazz explained that he doesn’t want the NBPP to become “a one man show” like other movements. This is especially true, he argued, because the NBPP is supposedly not just an organization but a provisional government for Blacks in America and eventually an actual government.

King Samir Shabazz, introduced on the broadcast as the group’s “National Field Marshal,” praised what he felt was an extremely successful summit but called for less talking and more violent action against whites. It’s time, he said, “to start cracking some crackers’ backs.” He also demanded that blacks stop spending their money at businesses belonging to “Koreans and Jews” and start worrying about black survival. Shabazz is known for vicious racist rants in which he supports violence against whites.

The most militant rant, however, came from General T.A.C.O. (Take All Capitalists Out) of the Black Riders Liberation Party. T.A.C.O. accused whites of pushing crack cocaine, HIV/AIDS, guns, and unemployment on Black communities in a constant attempt to exterminate them. He said, “the white man” knows there are panthers all over the country ready to “hunt your pink ass down” and at one point yelled “Now die!”

“Once [white people] die,” T.A.C.O. added, “we should dig them up, and kill them again! Bury them, dig them up, and kill them again, and again, and again!” In a June 13 broadcast, T.A.C.O. called on blacks to stand up for themselves and not go “passively like the Jews to the gas chambers.”

T.A.C.O. founded the Black Riders in 1996 to unite rival gangs such as the Bloods and Crips to fight against “oppressive” white society, especially the police. The goal, he explained, is to unite “street tribes” (gangs) to destroy capitalism, imperialism, and white civilization as a whole.

Much of the remaining broadcast focused on freeing Hashim Nzinga, the former NBPP Chief of Staff, who was arrested on weapons charges in March, and on the upcoming election. While some participants praised Barack Obama as a strong role model for the Black community, he was also criticized for “shocking” foreign policies such as allegedly “orchestrating the diabolical assassination of our brother Qaddafi” and making a “secret deal” with Israel that if the economy is not doing well come election time, Israel will bomb Iran to help Obama gain votes.

Former Congressman Tom Tancredo to Speak at White Supremacist Conference

Former Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) is scheduled to speak at the national conference of the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC), according to a recent newsletter distributed by the group. The conference is scheduled to take place July 6-7, 2012, in Nashville, Tennessee. Tancredo's topic will be "Multiculturalism - the Death of America."

If this announcement is correct, Tancredo, who is known for his anti-immigrant rhetoric and attacks on multiculturalism, has shown his true colors by agreeing to appear before a group that promotes racism and white separatism. The CofCC traces its roots directly to the racist, anti-integrationist White Citizens' Councils of the 1950s and 1960s. The group exploits hot-button issues such as immigration and black-on-white crime to inflame fears about minorities and the destruction of white culture in America. 

Among the scheduled speakers at the CofCC conference are Don Black who runs Stormfront, the largest and most popular white supremacist Internet forum; Derek Black, Don Black's son, who runs a radio show with his father on Stormfront, and James Edwards, whose radio show, The Political Cesspool, regularly features racists and anti-Semites. 

In the last few years, Tancredo has become increasingly strident in his view that the influx of both legal and undocumented immigrants is destroying American culture. At the Conservative Political Conference (CPAC) in February 2011, at a panel titled, “Will Immigration Kill the GOP?” Tancredo alleged that the “cult of multiculturalism” had hurt the United States and the rest of the world, particularly Western Europe. He asserted that multiculturalism was “the dagger point into the heart of western civilization.”

The CPAC panel was sponsored by Youth for Western Civilization (YWC), a far-right student group, which made Tancredo its honorary chairman. YWC has also decried multiculturalism for "destroying and dispossessing the people and culture of the West.” The term “Western civilization” has become a euphemism in far-right and racist circles to signify white European culture. During a February 2009 lecture at American University that YWC organized, Tancredo suggested that "throughout history, people who are not white Anglo-Saxon have become American by adopting a white Anglo-Saxon culture."

The Bloody Trail of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas

What’s the most violent extremist group in the United States today? The answer may be surprising: it is the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT), one of the largest white supremacist prison gangs in the country. According to ADL records, since 2000, this racist group—which has no relationship to the older, “original” Aryan Brotherhood—has killed more Americans than any other domestic extremist group.

Since 2000, ABT members and associates have committed at least 29 murders in the United States, all in Texas or neighboring states. The true number is likely considerably higher, as most murders that occur behind prison walls do not get reported by the media. The 29 known killings are all “street” killings, more evidence of the growing presence of racist prison gangs on the streets of America.

Why are there so many ABT murders? There are two main reasons. The first is that the ABT inculcates an acceptance of violence in its members; violence is as often as not the first—or even only—solution to a perceived problem.

The second relates to the nature of racist prison gangs in general and the ABT in particular: the ABT is an organized crime group as well as a white supremacist group. The ABT constitution even acknowledges that it can be a “hindrance” to put ideological beliefs before “business transactions” and that the group has to generate income to further its “mission and growth.” The result is that many ABT murders take place in connection with their “traditional” criminal activities, such as methamphetamine trafficking, home invasions, and identity theft.

Even more ABT murders are actually internal murders, in which gang members kill their own, usually because they believe or suspect the victim has become an informant or broken gang rules, but also sometimes due to factional or other internal fights. It is almost as dangerous to be an ABT member as it is to encounter one.

Ironically, only 3 of the 29 known murders linked to this white supremacist group in the past 12 years were actually hate-related, though there have been other hate-related crimes by ABT members, ranging from assaults to arsons of African-American churches.

There is no doubting, however, the viciousness of the ABT killings, some of which were torture-murders while others were execution-style killings, in which the victim’s body was burned, decapitated or otherwise dismembered in order to make identification difficult.

Neo-Nazi Bill White Arrested in Mexico

Authorities arrested neo-Nazi Bill White in Mexico on June 8, after he allegedly spent nearly a month on the run.  He is reportedly back in the United States and being held in Miami, Florida.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for White after it was discovered that he was no longer in Virginia, where he was on probation.  A federal jury had convicted him in December 2009 on four counts, including making threats on the Internet and witness intimidation. White, who served over two years in prison, was released in April 2011.

White may have feared being sent back to prison. His appeal of his conviction on First Amendment grounds led a federal appeals court to uphold the conviction in March 2012. However, the court also ruled that White should have received a stiffer sentence on one of the counts involving intimidating letters he sent to the African-American residents of a Virginia Beach housing complex who were filing a discrimination suit against their white landlord. The U.S. government, which had originally indicted White, asserted that because at least one of the tenants had young children, White should have received an enhanced sentence for targeting an especially vulnerable population. The appeals court agreed with the government’s argument. White had been scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Roanoke, Virginia, in May for resentencing in the case.

Since his release from prison in April 2011, White had been writing for two anti-Semitic publications, the conspiracy-oriented American Free Press (AFP) and The Barnes Review (TBR), a Holocaust denial publication. Both are published by long-time anti-Semite Willis Carto.

More recently, in March 2012, AFP announced that it was hosting a book release dinner in honor of White’s new book, Centuries of Revolution: Democracy, Communism, Zionism. The event was co-hosted by TBR and the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens.

White is the former head of the now-defunct American National Socialist Workers Party, and a former leader in the National Socialist Movement.

Brutal Racist Skinhead Assault in Philadelphia Results in Victim’s Blinding

Racist skinheads have a long track record of brutal and vicious assaults and murders in the United States. Usually, they direct their extreme violence at perceived “enemies,” such as ethnic or religious minorities, members of the GLBT community, or anti-racist activists.

However, the racist skinhead subculture is an inherently violent one. When they have a mind to, racist skinheads can be just as brutal towards their own, as a recent shocking attack in northeast Philadelphia graphically demonstrated.

According to police reports, the attack occurred on May 6, 2012, when a racist skinhead, David Phillips, 43, was assaulted by two fellow white supremacists, Stephen Masten, 29, and Frank Casiano, 28, who allegedly kicked in the door to Phillips’ home and began beating him with sticks and a blackjack while threatening to kill him.

The police report states that the assailants repeatedly punched, kicked and stabbed Phillips—but that was not all. According to the victim, Masten tried to smother Phillips with a pillow, then gouged out the victim’s eyes with his bare hands, ripping them from their sockets. Phillips suffered multiple stab wounds and lacerations on his face and head, as well as broken eye sockets, and was permanently blinded by the assault. He remains hospitalized.

During the initial investigation, Phillips told police that the perpetrators were white supremacist comrades of his, while a fourth white supremacist who witnessed part of the assault allegedly identified the attackers as Masten and Casiano. The witness claimed the violent assault was an act of retaliation against Phillips because of a prior incident involving Phillips and Masten’s girlfriend while Masten was incarcerated on theft charges. Masten left prison on parole about two weeks prior to the assault.

A few days after the assault, Joshua Steever, founder of the small racist skinhead crew Aryan Terror Brigade (ATB) and currently living in New Jersey, began posting about the attack on the ATB’s on-line forum. Identifying Phillips as ATB’s Pennsylvania state representative, Steever asked forum members to donate money to help with his recovery.

Police arrested the two suspects on May 22, 2012, charging them with attempted murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit murder, burglary, criminal trespassing, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, making terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, simple assault, reckless endangerment to another person, and criminal mischief.

Masten and Casiano remain incarcerated with bail set at $3 million and $1 million, respectively. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 12, 2012.

The Final Call Newspaper Denies Jewish History

The Nation of Islam’s newspaper, The Final Call, featured an article by guest columnist Jackie Muhammad in the May 29, 2012, issue. The article reinforces the blatant anti-Semitic vitriol expressed by Farrakhan during his recent lectures and speeches.

The article not only denies Jewish history by arguing that Ashkenazi Jews have no connection to Biblical Jews but also demonizes the Jewish people in modern times. Muhammad writes that “the white Jewish establishment (Israel)” fears that Farrakhan will “influence the thinking of untold millions who are unaware of the damage done to us by our Jewish ‘friends’” and that “Black youth…will break free of Israel’s control.” The article concludes that it is the “children of the Black slave” who are “the legitimate heirs of God’s covenant,” and therefore the real Jews.

The Final Call serves as a platform to further promote Farrakhan’s anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. It is a central part of the organization’s media arm, which includes various websites, book publishing and social media initiatives.

May Not So Merry For White Supremacists

April ended with a shock to the racist world, as prominent Arizona white supremacist and border vigilante J.T. Ready fatally shot four people before turning his gun on himself.   White supremacists would not be given a chance to catch their breaths, however, as the month of May continued to serve them setback after setback.

On the heels of the Ready murder-suicide came a high profile incident in Florida in early May, in which law enforcement officers rounded up almost the entire Florida contingent of the hardcore racist skinhead group American Front on weapons, paramilitary training, and hate crimes charges.  To date, authorities have made 14 arrests.  According to court documents, the group allegedly conducted paramilitary training to prepare for an “inevitable race war” and discussed possible acts of violence ranging from shooting at a house to attacking an anti-racist group.

This just set the stage for a wave of arrests and setbacks to the white supremacist movement in May, including:

• In mid-May, Virginia neo-Nazi Bill White became a fugitive, announcing that he had “left the country,” though authorities think otherwise.  White, who had been released from prison in April, missed a re-sentencing court hearing and possibly feared he might be sent back to prison.

•  On May 17, court documents revealed that a Minnesota white supremacist, Joseph Benjamin Thomas, arrested with another white supremacist a few weeks earlier on drug and weapons charges, respectively, had allegedly planned to attack the Mexican consulate in St. Paul.

• On May 19, anti-racist activists crashed a Chicago-area white supremacist event billed as an “economic summit,” attacking attendees and sending three to the hospital.  Police arrested five anti-racists on charges related to the attack.  Adding insult to injury, police also arrested two of the attendees of the white supremacist event—one for child pornography and the other for unlawful possession of weapons by a felon.

• On May 30, Joliet resident Brian Moudry, a long-time Chicago-area white supremacist associated with the Creativity Movement, was arrested on federal arson and civil rights charges in connection with the 2007 arson of an African-American family’s house a few doors down from Moudry’s.

• Also on May 30, agents from the Washington, D.C., Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested Virginia white supremacist Douglas Howard Story for allegedly attempting to obtain a fully automatic AK-47.  Story had a track record of on-line comments about responding with violence to encounters with police and about how President Obama might be assassinated.

Conspiracy Theories Mark Louis Farrakhan’s San Diego Address

Nation of Islam (NOI) leader Louis Farrakhan’s nearly three-hour speech in San Diego last weekend, titled “Guidance in a Time of Trouble,” was marked by myriad conspiratorial attacks against the U.S., as well as Israel.

While media reports following Farrakhan’s remarks primarily focused on his criticism of Obama’s stance on gay marriage and his “warning” that God will severely punish America if it attacks Iran, anti-Semitism and anti-Israel vitriol marked parts of his speech as well.

Farrakhan reiterated his views about how members of Congress are “afraid to speak out against the warmongering of Israel and their control through AIPAC of your members of Congress.” “Joe Lieberman and his crowd,” Farrakhan said, are pushing for war against Iran and “moving the goalposts” for Iran on the nuclear issue.

Farrakhan also promoted the NOI’s book “The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews,” which argues essentially that the history of slavery in the New World was initiated by Jewish ship owners and merchants, who, as a group, the book maintains, remained the primary beneficiaries of the slave economy.

“How many of you have heard of the Holocaust?” Farrakhan continued. “Raise your hands. Jewish people want the world to know what Hitler did to them. Why? So it will never happen again. Don’t you want to know what was done to you? This book should be in your colleges in your African American studies. But I know who writes your pay checks.”

In addition to discussing how much of the American southwest was taken from Mexico through “trickery” and how birth control is a conspiracy by white Americans to keep the white majority, Farrakhan also attacked President Obama’s position on gay marriage. “He’s the first president that sanctioned what the scriptures forbid…Why is it that all you politicians take your oath of office on the Bible? If the book is no good, what the hell are you using it for to take an oath of office…?”

Farrakhan concluded his speech with a tirade warning America of calamity if it takes action against Iran. “So I’m warning you America, if you bomb Iran…The God that I represent is going to take out some of your cities with earthquakes… He’s going show you his power. In the meantime, one calamity after another until you submit, America, and know that judgment is here…”

Virginia White Supremacist Arrested On Weapons Charge

Agents from the Washington, D.C., Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested a Virginia white supremacist, Douglas Howard Story, 48, on May 29, 2012, on charges that he had illegally attempted to obtain an automatic AK-47.

According to authorities, Story met with undercover informants and requested them to convert an AK-47 assault rifle to full-auto for $125. Story reportedly said that he knew it was against the law, but that he could “claim mental issues because of a motorcycle injury.” Law enforcement officers arrested Story after he accepted delivery of the ostensibly modified gun.

Story, who used to work for the Virginia Safety Service Patrol, a state agency that helps stranded motorists and removes debris from the highways, is a long-time white supremacist. “Now,” he wrote in 2007 on a white supremacist message forum, “if I see an accident involving a negro or other kind of brown filth, I just drive on by. Screw ‘em, let ‘em die.” According to his Facebook page, Story is still employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation.

In 2010, Story received a brief flurry of publicity after Virginia authorities revoked his personalized license plates, which read “14CV88.” While the “CV” stood for “Confederate Veterans,” the “14” stood for a white supremacist slogan, the so-called “14 Words” (“We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children”), and the 88 stood for “Heil Hitler” (H being the 8th letter of the alphabet). For several years, Story has been a member of the neo-Nazi Aryan Nations and he participated in a 2010 Aryan Nations rally in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Story has often combined his racist and anti-Semitic beliefs with conspiratorial anti-government beliefs stemming from the anti-government “patriot” movement. In 2007, Story wrote that housing subdivisions existed so that the “powers that be” could easily herd people to “jew controlled concentration camps.” These feelings intensified as it became clear that Barack Obama would be elected president. He urged other white supremacists to stock up on ammo, food, and supplies, and often referred to his AK-47 as his “homeland defense rifle.” According to the criminal complaint, Story believed that martial law would be enacted in the United States, and that if this happened, he would ambush any law enforcement officer who stopped him on the street. His views were disturbingly close to those of another white supremacist and anti-government conspiracy theorist, Richard Poplawski, who ambushed and killed three Pittsburgh police officers in April 2009.

Story also frequently wrote about Obama, whom he loathed, being assassinated, often adopting a coy tone, such as one November 2008 posting in which he claimed that “I’m not advocating violence against him, I’m just saying there are White folks out there that are none to[o] happy with his ‘election.’”

FBI Arrests Chicago-Area White Supremacist For Hate-Motivated Arson

FBI agents on May 30, 2012, arrested long-time Chicago-area white supremacist Brian James Moudry, 35, for allegedly setting fire to the home of an African-American family in Joliet near Moudry’s own home in 2007. Nine people were in the house at the time, eight of them children, but they escaped the fire without injury.

Prosecutors have charged Moudry with arson, using fire to interfere with housing rights on the basis of race, and using fire to commit another felony. If convicted, Moudry could face up to 40 years in federal prison.

Moudry has a lengthy history of both arrests and white supremacy. By his own admission, he spent most of his teenage years in juvenile institutions. By the time he was 18 he was already a white supremacist. In 1996, he wrote a fan letter to the white power music magazine Resistance in which he talked about how much he and his father enjoyed the articles and ended his missive with the cry of “WHITE UNITY and WHITE POWER!!” Within a few years, he was arrested for aggravated assault and hate crimes for assaulting two African-American men in a restaurant parking lot and spent some months in the county jail for the assault.

At first, Moudry was primarily active on the white power music scene, editing a white power music fanzine dubbed Hatemonger and playing in a white power band called Xenophobia while calling himself “Warhead von Jewgrinder.” Xenophobia performed songs such as “Vomit on the Rabbi” and “Delenda Est Judica,” and appeared on a compilation CD along with Flammable Hebrews, with which Moudry also performed.

In the early 2000s, Moudry met Matt Hale, then leader of the Illinois-based World Church of the Creator (WCOTC; now known as the Creativity Movement), and became an active member of the group, styling himself a “Reverend” and organizing WCOTC rallies and protests and passing out white supremacist literature in northern Illinois. Moudry quickly became the “state leader” of the WCOTC for Illinois. The WCOTC collapsed in 2004 following Hale’s arrest and subsequent conviction for soliciting the murder of a federal judge; in subsequent years Moudry was part of a small band of Hale loyalists trying, largely unsuccessfully, to keep the group alive following Hale’s arrest.

In July 2010, FBI agents paid Moudry a visit to question him about an alleged threat by Moudry to an African-American postal carrier; no charges were filed, but according to authorities he was “encouraged to behave.” However, not long after, in August 2010, local police arrested Moudry for allegedly threatening a youth with a weapon. That case is still pending.

New Black Panther Samir Shabazz’s Latest Militant Rant

King Samir Shabazz, head of the New Black Panther Party’s (NBPP) Philadelphia chapter, has recently been the subject of some attention for vicious racist rants in which he supports violence against whites.

The tirade begins with Shabazz recommending the 1986 film Quilombo which begins with black slaves killing their white slave owners. He describes the pleasure he gets from this scene as such: “I’m in love already…go get some popcorn and ginger beer…Any movie that starts off with the killing of peckerwood, I’m locked in and loaded.”

Shabazz later explains just how deep his hatred for white people runs:

“…I hate the goddamn white man, woman, and child, grandma, aunt, uncle, Pappa Billy Bob, and whoever else. Redneck Tom and Blueneck Robert, and whoever else you wanna name. I hate the white man. I hate the very look of white people. I hate the sound of white people. Goddamn it, I hate the smell of white people…I hate the murder and the rape and the torture and the taking away of our names, our culture, our god, our music and damn, I hate this cracker for everything he has done to us.”

In the rant, Shabazz also warns, “You should be thankful we’re not running around here hanging crackers by nooses… yet…yet…yet.” He also claims he’s not “telling you to go out there and attack nobody” but that “[blacks] are taught to send this cracker to the cemetery; when he puts his hand on us, we send him to the cemetery in self-defense.”

Shabazz statements are similar to comments he apparently made in Philadelphia, according to a YouTube video from January 2012. In the video, Shabazz is shown telling his audience, “We are gonna have to kill some cracker babies…I believe in the death and destruction of white people, each and every one of them. Don’t give a damn if the little bastard just came out of his mama’s womb 3 seconds ago. Kill ‘em all, every last one of them. Don’t spare one.”

Shabazz garnered some national attention in January 2009, when the U.S. Justice Department filed suit against him and the NBPP over alleged voter intimidation in Philadelphia on Election Day 2008.

Less than a week before the 2008 Election Day incident, Samir Shabazz made a series of incendiary statements about whites during an interview with a local newspaper, including “I'm about the total destruction of white people. I'm about the total liberation of black people. I hate white people. I hate my enemy.”

Shabazz's behavior on Election Day 2008 was reflective of his long history of confrontational behavior towards whites and law enforcement. Shabazz views the U.S. as having an “inherent racism” and his statements frequently advocate for violence against white people in order to achieve racial and social justice for blacks. “You want freedom?,” Shabazz shouted through a microphone on a Philadelphia street in 2008, “You’re gonna have to kill some crackers. You're gonna have to kill some of they [sic] babies.”

American Nazi Party Seeks Attention with “Lobbyist” Publicity Stunt

Nobody can squeeze fifteen minutes of infamy out of the Internet like a neo-Nazi group can, a fact demonstrated recently by a flare-up in the blogosphere after South Carolina neo-Nazi John Taylor Bowles registered as a Congressional lobbyist on behalf of the tiny American Nazi Party (ANP).

Within a few days of the April 10 filing, Bowles’ name appeared in dozens of newspaper articles and thousands of blogs as the “first ever” Nazi lobbyist. That it was merely a publicity stunt seemed to have occurred to relatively few observers. However, the ANP is miniscule even by neo-Nazi standards, with only around two dozen active members. Led by Rocky Suhayda of Michigan, the ANP holds few events and does little more than publish a crude newsletter.

The lobbyist stunt might have been out of character for Suhayda, but was typical of Bowles, who has frequently sought the spotlight over the past decade. Bowles is a long-time neo-Nazi who first became involved with the National Socialist White People’s Party as a teenager in Baltimore in the 1970s. In the 1980s he reportedly spent four years in prison on an arson conviction, something that didn’t prevent him from subsequently working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a meat inspector.

Bowles eventually returned to neo-Nazism by joining the National Socialist Movement in 2003 and becoming one of its more active members. By 2005, Bowles was the group’s Virginia state leader; he subsequently became state leader for South Carolina. It was there he orchestrated his first major publicity stunt, issuing a press release in December 2006 announcing that he was running for president.

Over the next year and a half he used this position as “presidential candidate” to help him get attention from both within the white supremacist movement as well as from the media—even though his name was not on any ballots and Bowles himself was ineligible to run (by virtue of his conviction). During this time, Bowles also exploited anti-immigration sentiment for publicity by organizing an anti-immigration rally in South Carolina and announcing a trip to the Texas-Mexico border he dubbed “Operation Throw Back the Wetback.”

Bowles’ exploits did garner him publicity, but also the negative attention and jealousy of fellow NSM members, who kicked him out of the group in late 2007. In response, Bowles formed his own splinter group, the National Socialist Organization of America, which never had more than a handful of members and fell apart about eight months later, after Bowles suffered a heart attack.

After recovering, Bowles joined his fourth neo-Nazi group, the American Nazi Party, in 2009, writing for its newsletter, the White Worker, and organizing events in South Carolina. His lobbyist stunt seems to have been an attempt to regain the “glory” of his faux presidential bid—the only lobbying issue he even put on his registration form was “ballot access laws.”

Terry Jones Latest Extremist Threatening to Join Fray Around Trayvon Martin Case

Terry Jones, pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center, a virulently anti-Muslim, anti-gay apostolic church based in Gainesville, Florida, has joined the growing list of extremists who are enflaming the situation surrounding the shooting death of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida.

Jones announced in a press release that he would hold a rally in front of the Seminole County Courthouse on April 21 in support of “the Constitutional Rights for George Zimmerman and Treyvon [sic] Martin” because “America is being corrupted, controlled, and manipulated.” Martin’s family and their supporters are demanding that police arrest Zimmerman, who is allegedly in hiding due to threats made against him after the shooting.

Other extremists have also announced that they will go to Sanford in the wake of the shooting. In a posting to their Web site, the National Socialist Movement (NSM), the largest neo-Nazi group in the country, claims that they will carry out armed patrols in Sanford to protect local white citizens from alleged “racial violence” taking place there. Sanford police, however, have denied that the neo-Nazis are patrolling the streets there.

The NSM asserted in the same Web posting that they are taking action in response to the activities of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP), which offered a $10,000 reward for the “capture” of Zimmerman. The NBPP has also promoted a number of other activities in Sanford since the shooting, including a "National Day of Action" and community patrols “to protest against racial violence and attacks.”

New Black Panthers Organizing “National Day of Action” in Florida

The New Black Panther Party (NBPP), which offered a $10,000 reward for the “capture” of George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed an African-American teenager Trayvoen Martin last month, is planning additional activity in Florida.

The largest organized anti-Semitic and racist black militant group in America, the NBPP released a flyer on its website with a photo of Zimmerman’s face in the crosshairs. The flyer promotes a “National Day of Action and Absence” on April 9, calling for “a general strike and mass action by brothers and sisters in unity.”

Last week, the NBPP released a wanted poster with Zimmerman’s picture, saying “wanted dead or alive.”

In a radio interview with the syndicated radio program The Muslim Street, Malik Zulu Shabazz, NBPP National Chairman, said his group is also planning a “county-wide and state-wide defense training and community patrols to protest against racial violence and attacks” in Sanford prior to the day of action.

The events are being organized under the banner of Black Lawyers for Justice (BLJ), Shabazz’s legal advocacy group. Like the NBPP, BLJ combines bigotry with militant messages of Black Nationalism under the guise of championing civil rights and promoting black pride and consciousness.

The NBPP’s Tampa chapter Chief of Staff, Michelle Williams, spoke on the group’s web radio program on April 2. “I am for violence if non-violence means we continue to postpose a solution to the American Black man’s problem just to avoid violence,” she said.

Williams added, “This could not have happened in LA, because them brothers up there, ain’t scared to riot. This could not have happened in St. Petersburg, Florida, where the Black man over there ain’t scared to kill a cracker…If someone put their hands on you, you better send that goddam cracker to the cemetery grave.”

The Tampa chapter’s website describes the reward as: “NBPP $10000 Bounty for George Zimmerman JUSTICE!”

On the same radio program, Mikhail Muhammad, the NBPP’s Florida representative, said the group has 20 new recruits in the city of Sanford. Muhamamd previously told CNN, “I don’t obey the white man’s law, I don’t follow the American law…we decided to craft language to put pressure on the united snakes, - because these are snakes, government – to arrest him because when the people find him, he may not be alive.”

Six bikers, some of whom were members of a white supremacist biker gang, were arrested in Florida and Chicago on drugs and explosives charges following a three-year undercover police investigation by a variety of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Arrested were Leah Klose and Brian Klose of St. Cloud, Florida; Ronald Cusack of St. Cloud; Deborah Plowman (arrested in Chicago); Carlos Eugene Dubos of Orlando, and Harold Johnson Kinlaw of Orange County, Florida. Brian Klose, Cusack, Dubose, and Kinlaw were charged with threatening to throw a destructive device, while several suspects were charged with trafficking in prescription drugs and other offenses.

Kusack and several other suspects were members of the 1st Kavallerie Brigade of Aryan Nations, a white supremacist biker club started in early 2008 by white supremacist August Kreis, who also headed a faction of the neo-Nazi group Aryan Nations at the time. A small group, its members mostly came from South Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee. Ron Cusack was the “brigade commander” for the Kavallerie Brigade.

The remaining suspects arrested were members of the far larger Outlaws Motorcycle Club. This club, one of the major outlaw biker gangs in the United States, has had strong ties with white supremacists in Florida.

The arrests are likely to lead to the demise of the Kavallerie Brigade, especially since its founder Kreis pleaded guilty in 2011 to federal fraud charges and is in ill health.

The Anti-Defamation League recently profiled the Kavallerie Brigade in its major report, Bigots on Bikes: The Growing Links between White Supremacists and Biker Gangs, which also describes other similar white supremacist biker crews.

Hashim Nzinga, New Black Panther Party Chief of Staff, Arrested on Weapons Charge

Hashim Nzinga, longtime member of the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) who has a history of advocating militant action, has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the DeKalb County, Georgia, Sheriff’s Office.

According to the arrest warrant, Nzinga was detained after trying to pawn a semi-automatic handgun at pawn shop. He had been convicted last month for felony deposit account fraud.

On March 25, Nzinga announced on CNN that his group was offering a $10,000 reward for the “capture” of George Zimmerman, the man who reportedly shot and killed Trayvon Martin, an African-American teenager in Florida, last month. 

Nzinga regularly encourages militant action as a legitimate response to the ills plaguing the African-American community. During a January 2009 radio interview, he asserted that African-Americans must defend themselves against perceived exploitation and oppression, even if it entails resorting to violence. "I got the right to defend my house I got the right bear arms and I got the right to protect myself," he said.

Nzinga has accused Jews of having disproportionate power over the media and entertainment industries, which he asserted was achieved by exploiting alliances with Blacks during the Civil Rights era.

Nzinga's conspiratorial view of the world is apparent in other theories he has advanced in speeches and interviews.  For example, he has asserted that Jews had foreknowledge of September 11 attacks during a September 2005 appearance on Hannity & Colmes. He has also accused “white-run” U.S. government agencies of infiltrating and plotting to "destroy" the NBPP.

Nzinga's tenure with the NBPP can be traced back to 1994, when he met Khalid Muhammad. At that time he became Muhammad's personal assistant, and was later appointed Chief of Staff.

Online Racism and Anti-Semitism in the Aftermath of Trayvon Martin Shooting

The fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, who was killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman, has led to a flurry of racist and anti-Semitic remarks from extremists trying to exploit the incident to further their own hateful views. The remarks have been directed at both the victim and the shooter.

White supremacists are furious that Zimmerman, whose mother is reportedly Latino, is being described as a white man by the mainstream media.

In an article posted to the white supremacist Counsel of Conservative Citizens (CofCC) Web site, the author asserted, “Each time you see a ‘mainstream’ news outlet rant about the Zimmerman/Martin case...ask yourself why the media is called Zimmerman a white man instead of a Latino. Ask yourself if you think the story is really news or is it agitation/propaganda designed to advance a political agenda.”

Similarly, posters to the white supremacist Internet forum Stormfront, expressed both racist and anti-Semitic views. For example, “Thule Seeker” asserted, “[Zimmerman] can do us another favor by getting his jew-bean ass thrown in prison. Everyone always blames Whites for being racist but now the shoe is on the other foot. It will be nice for jews, beans and/or jewbeans to see one of their own go to prison for the very thing that us Whites are always accused of.”

Another Stormfront member, using the name “Richard Nixon,” wrote: “The anti-white Jew media will still try to spin this in an anti-white angle. And, of course, Blacks will find an excuse to riot, loot, a [sic] wreak overall havoc.”

On yet another white supremacist forum, Vanguard News Network, “Craig Cobb” wrote, “Ha ha the lying media calls a possible jew spic mix a 'white' just like the annual DOJ UNiform Crime Report files do! Probably in about 10 more years George Zimmerman will be as White in America as it gets--like our elite version of an Icelandic pale blue eyed platinum blonde.”

Some white supremacists, while describing Zimmerman in racist terms, lauded him for killing a black teen. On Stormfront, “Thin White Duke” argued, “Zimmerman should be praised as much as any mestizo in America should. Putting white nationalism aside for a moment, this man removed a violent person from a neighborhood voluntarily. If only we had more whites patrolling our neighborhoods and keeping the negroes in check like this mestizo did.”

Another Stormfront member, “Reference,” asserted, “Let's don't get bogged down in Zimmerman's ethnicity. Zim put down negritude while his neighbor ran into the house, locked the doors and called 911 - a completely useless neighbor IMO.”

The New Black Panther Party for Self Defense (NBPP), the largest organized anti-Semitic and racist black militant group in America, is offering a $10,000 reward for the “capture” of George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed an African-American teenager in Florida last month.

Mikhail Muhammad, the NBPP’s Florida representative, announced the reward during a protest in Sanford, Florida, on Saturday. He also indicated that the group’s national chairman, Malik Zulu Shabazz, was receiving donations from black entertainers and athletes. According to the group's press release, the "goal is to increase the $10,000 reward up to $100,000."

“[Zimmerman] should be fearful for his life,” Muhammad reportedly said. “You can’t keep killing black children.” In response to a question about whether he was inciting violence, Muhammad replied, “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.”

Trayvon Martin’s death, which is being investigated by the Justice Department, has become a national story and member of the NBPP are known for inserting themselves in and enflaming high profile, racially charged issues around the country.

Prior to the NBPP’s announcement, Najee Muhammad, a former member of the group who now heads the Atlanta-based New Black Liberation Militia, announced his group’s plans to arrest Zimmerman and hand him over to federal authorities. “We’ll find him. We’ve got his mug shot and everything,” Najee Muhammad said on March 16.

Najee Muhammad, who served as the NBPP’s national field marshal, left the group a few years ago to form the New Black Liberation Militia and New Black Liberation Institute, which seeks to “ensure the survival of black people in the 21st century and beyond” and build a “strong black army to defend the back nation.” He describes himself as “The Top Student of Dr. Khallid Abdul Muhammad,” the virulently anti-Semitic former leader of the NBPP who died in February 2001.

White Supremacist Arrested for 2005 Arizona Murder

On March 9, 2012, Maricopa County authorities formally “arrested” Toby Ray Gaspard, a member of the Vinlanders Social Club (VSC), a violent racist skinhead group, for the 2005 murder of another racist skinhead, Cory Simpson.  The arrest gave notice that detectives had finally cracked a murder case nearly seven years old.

Simpson, 31 at the time of his murder, had been released from prison nearly a year earlier after serving four years on an armed robbery charge. He was one of the leaders of the Canyon State Skinheads (CSS), a local racist skinhead crew. The skinhead scene in Arizona in 2005 was complicated, thanks to the rise of the VSC and its growth through adopting members of local racist skinhead crews, including members of the Canyon State Skinheads.   

On December 24, 2005, Simpson attended a party in Mesa for local racist skinheads, held at Gaspard’s home. Gaspard was also a high-ranking CSS member.  The party turned ugly when other skinheads confronted Simpson. One of them repeatedly stabbed Simpson, leaving him bleeding on his front lawn. Simpson’s wife and another racist skinhead, Christopher Gromberg, took Simpson to a hospital, but he had been fatally wounded.

Gaspard became a suspect in the murders. However, witnesses, generally white supremacists who hated the police, were not exactly willing to talk.  Some may have also feared retaliation, which turned out to be a justifiable fear in April 2006, when Gromberg was shot to death, execution-style, with two shots to the back of the head (in November 2011, VSC member David Bounds was indicted for the murder of Gromberg).  

Mesa and Phoenix police (especially Phoenix’s Career Criminal Squad) did not give up on the case. In 2008, Gaspard was extradited from Oklahoma to Arizona to face questions about the Simpson murder (he would later be convicted on unrelated weapons charges and given a five year prison sentence, insuring his future availability). Finally, in January 2012, an indictment was handed down that charged Gaspard with second-degree murder, assisting a criminal syndicate, and misconduct involving weapons.  The formal arrest—a transfer from state prison to the Maricopa County Jail—occurred in March.
